Lindsay as Marilyn? Sorry, Lindsey, but it just doesn't work. Marylin looks better than you even when she's 36ish and about to die. Maybe what you really need is time away from the tanning booth? And, man. I won't even get into the flat hair. I'm really surprised the photo team let these out of the box like this.

(i usually like lindsay shoots, btw. that W spread a few years back was outstanding. i'm not saying this because i don't think she's got allure. this set is just so bad.)

the one with her on her back is especially disturbing. they didn't even bother to properly fix the fact that you can see her wig lace and cap!!!

As a large breasted girl (34DD of doom) it's really nice to see natural large breasts, no implants, no lifts, nothing. Her boobs look great. Her face, her hair... whatever. I was looking at her boobs.

There's no way! They look completely real - floppy, uneven. You can do a lot with teardrop implants these days but her boobs look like mine.

ummm, yeah....but as Lindsay's first public nekkid pics, I gotta say it's a good move. I'm guessing some less classy nekkid photos got taken, probably on a coke binge in some hotel somewhere, and rather than take the bad publicity, they jump the gun with official nekkid pics. Redoing a Marilyn shoot is a good cover story cause it's about the homage, and not just getting her tits out in Playboy. And it probably is a good ploy for getting more grown up movie roles.

Very savvy, Mister Mason. In total accordance. On the press blurb about the shoot, she says it was a no-brainer to do b/c she loves Marilyn and the original photographer was doing the same shoots. True dat and all, but I agree with KA that they should have styled it better and done better hair, definitely.

I also like Lindsay a lot and think she's hot so naked pictures of her are always welcome in my book!

I think as a failure, though, it's interesting. I actually liked the photos, because the parallel between Lohan and Monroe is so poorly drawn, and instead what I see is a young woman trying to inhabit some legend, any legend, and failing ... it's kind of powerful.

Also, Lindsay has the least sexy big-boobed body I've seen in ages. I think it's the narrow hips. She really doesn't know how to pose nude ... she could've thrown her hips to the side and faked a la Bundchen.

full on gross. and the saddest thing is that the same photographer took both because the ones of marilyn were inspired and lovely and the ones of lindsay are eh, bad reproductions of the originals. maybe if another photographer (younger, dude was born in 1929) tried to pull off this editorial it may have worked better.

i think she looks desperate and uncomfortable--although it is nice to see that she is back to her normal size--even if she seems unsure what to do wit her body.

it's very telling that all these young celebrities/actresses are constantly done up as some icon or another for so many photoshoots - there is really very little to them in the end. (plus these so called creative teams working at so many mags and such are just lame)

I have to say that i thought the Lindsay as Liz shoot was really well done. The styling was good, the hair and makeup were good. AND LL looked hot. I usually like Interview spreads, though. They have this sexy all american look when they show off women, and being sexy all american, I think it's hot.

After working on several photo shoots when I did editorial stints in NYC, I'm just surprised that, with the whole team that works on photo jobs, this even happened. It's true that it DOES ring of amateur kitsch porn. But it doesn't look intentional, and it's not unintentional in a good way.

I do think it's interesting that the young girls are always dressed up as some old icon. Lindsay, in particular, seems desperate to want to be taken seriously as an ICON. I understand that she's really young and that all of us at some point in our past have gone great lengths to try too hard... but her people should have rallied around this one and made it way better.

you know.. i like it and i think its interesting that Burt did both of them.. but honestly all homages are set up to fail. on a proud parent note i produced both the andre 3000 shoot and the shoot with the Fuerzabruta guys in the same issue. ! LOVE andre 3000.. they should have run 50 shots of him!

I hate to say it, and you know this is one of my pet peeves: Instead of being absolutely fabulous in their own right, the stars of today are trying to be poor counterfeits of what was (and this may very well be just due to aging gay directors at fashion shoots attempting to resurrect their childhood icons). Lindsay as Liz, Marilyn...c'mon! I'm waiting for Lindsay as Oliver Reed (at least they have one thing in common in real life).

I'd welcome a cover feature of Lindsay as only Lindsay can unmistakably be: Loud, drunk, and makeup running all over.

But hey....if Jennifer Love Hewitt can be Audrey Hepburn, it's only a matter of time before Carrot-Top gets to play Joan Fontaine.
